Charlie, the Rittenhouse Mouse

Meet Charlie, the Rittenhouse Mouse,
The longest-tenured resident of Rittenhouse.

He wears a striped bow tie that he proudly ties on his own,
One that’s blue and pink and carefully hand sewn.

He even has a little top hat for special occasions.
He is the mayor after all and must be prepared for standing ovations!

And with his years of experience, he is said to be the wisest of them all,
Helping out whatever the issue, no matter how big or small.

It is said his little gray feet pitter-pattered all through the night.
Until he came across Rittenhouse Square, glimmering under the moonlight.

It was here at Rittenhouse, where he immediately felt at home.
Deciding to stay permanently, choosing no longer to roam.

For he knew he found a place where he could put a smile on your face,
A place where children could laugh for days and play in oh so many ways.

So he made his house in a little hole in one of the oldest oak trees.
For all he needed was a place for his bow tie, hat, and a piece of cheese.

From that night on, day after day, children of all ages came to play.
Each hoping they can meet Charlie, always begging their parents to stay.

The laughter began to spread and word got out about the magic of Rittenhouse and its littlest mouse.
And one by one, animals started to arrive,
Creating and atmosphere like no other, as the park began to thrive.

They all wanted a place to let their imagination run wild, a place to have fun.
But more importantly of all,
A place to feel at home, a home for everyone.
